Georgia/Florida Tailgate Barbecue CookOff PEOPLE'S CHOICE There is no fee charged to a cooking team to enter the People's choice contest. The first 24 teams to sign up for the People's Choice well be the contestants. Two 8 pound (approximately) Boston Butts will be purchased, prepared and cooked by each team entering the contest. The Jesup Rotary club will pick up the (prepared for serving) Boston Butts between 10:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning. Outlined below is information that should help you provide a competitive sample and win the hearts and taste buds of Georgia/Florida Tailgate Bar-B-Q Fans!
You will be provided one aluminum pan on Saturday morning between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. The pan will have a letter on it ( A, B, C, etc..) You must turn in your cooked and prepared for serving butts in the letter pan provided. Your entry must weigh approximately 10 pounds. Any less than 10 pounds turned in will mean your team will have less servings than required and consequently less chances to be sampled and receive votes. Your entry will be picked up by the Jesup Rotary Clubs between 10 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning.. There is a substantial amount of preparation that happens between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. in the People's Choice serving area and folk start lining up at 11 a.m. to judge, so please don't sit on your butt's!
